Flynn’s Third Easter

This year mum had a great idea to change it up our yearly routine a bit  So instead of doing our Easter Egg hunt at home we went to Morden Hall Park for their Cadbury’s sponsored egg hunt.

It was less of an egg hunt and more of a nature trail that ended in chocolate, but Flynn had a blast none the less.  I think the fact that his lovely day at the park ended in a big, chocolate egg was more of a nice surprise than the end goal.  I suspect he’ll be wiser next year and will have more chocolate based expectations however.

You may have noticed that when he got home there were a few more eggs along with a gift from grandma.  Spoiled is the word you’re looking for.

Warm Weather Water Table

You might remember our earlier post about the water table that Flynn received for Christmas.  Well, we finally got some warm weather and he was able to take it outside for a proper play.  While he still hasn’t worked out the finer features of the table like the pump and various hoses and spray nozzles, there’s no doubt he loves just splashing about and playing with the water.

However, I think you can see pretty quickly from the photos below why it wasn’t a great idea to try to use this table indoors…

Playtime Around The House

With the recent cold, drizzly weather we’ve been having here in London we’ve been spending quite a bit of time indoors playing.  As mentioned before, Flynn loves his Lego and anything to do with fire trucks so he’s more than happy to stay inside playing with his combination Lego/fire truck toys.

I’ve also been able to finally bring my camera home after a long spate of new hires at the office, so it was nice to get a few more non-phone photos of the little man again.

He’s also very good at acting out various scenarios, as you can see here.

See Spiderman

I had left my PlayStation on the other day and Flynn had his first introduction to Spiderman.  Ever since then he asks to “see spiderman” whenever he wanders into the game room so last night we fired it up and played some “two player” Spiderman.  He was just happy holding on to a controller while he directed Spiderman to scour New York looking for helicopters.  We didn’t fight much crime, but we did see a lot of helicopters!

Excuse the state of the house (and lack of seats), it’s all still a work in progress.

Library Reading

One of the spots we take Flynn on the not-infrequent rainy days here in Sutton is the local library.  They’ve recently renovated their kids section and it’s a fantastic spot for Flynn to run around in and play with their various sensory toys.  They’ve got infinity mirrors, lights with sounds and all manner of wall mounted wheels and pulleys to play with in addition to the stacks of books.  Usually Flynn is happy just to mill about but today he decided he was going to read a book using almost all of the available reading spots.

He looks very studious, but to be honest he largely wanted to hold on to this particular book because another little boy had expressed interest in it…

Oh, and we can never visit the library without doing a bit of ramp running:

Sutton Sports Village

We’ve been going to Sutton Sports Village for a while now, including for Flynn’s first birthday party.  But this past year they’ve done some major renovations and I have to say what they’ve built for the kids is amazing.  Danni has taking Flynn here a few times before, but it was my first chance to see the venue and I can see why they love it here so much!

The soft play area is huge and incredible.  It goes up roughly two stories with lots of ramps, ladders, slides, ropes and tunnels, all padded and safe for little ones.  I have to admit I was more than keen to lead Flynn through the structure just so I could experience it myself.  There was also a fantastic ball pit and these tiny, segregated trampolines which we also made full use of…

The Water Table

One of Flynn’s bigger Christmas gifts this year was his water table.  Like a lot of the best Christmas gifts, this one was best suited for warmer months which would mean waiting an unbearable amount of time before he got to use it.  (Un)Fortunately, we decided that since we had a large, tiled kitchen that it would be the perfect spot to break in this new toy without waiting untold eons for the sun to warm up this damp, dreary country.  It seemed like an excellent solution until we discovered just how projectile the water  from our water table actually was.

Still, Flynn had a great time and our floor was undoubtedly cleaner as a result of the experiment.
